Strage landescapes

The second series of NFTs that I will mint in HEN was: Strage landescapes - Paisajes extraños.

For this series I continued to work, as I had been doing with the found photographic films.

To arrive at the final works I made numerous attempts and tests.

I digitized and manipulated a significant number of frames, until I was able to obtain images and compositions that I considered interesting.





The first work Strange landescape 1 - Paisaje extraño 1, was will mint without its title by mistake.

For the realization of this image I started from a rather deteriorated 35mm color frame that was digitized and manipulated in its contrast, saturation and other variables using Gimp, the digital editing software that I have used for all my NFTs.

To that base image was added, via digital collage, the windmill, which was digitally cropped from an image obtained from a black and white photographic film of a field in which that windmill was located.


Strage landescape 2 – Paisaje estraño 2


In Strage landescape 2 - Paisaje estraño 2, an old 35 mm analog slide, very altered due to the bad conditions in which it was stored, was captured by digital photography and later edited with Gimp. This slide was exposed for a long time to humidity and formed fungi that significantly altered the photographic emulsion that recorded the image in a timely manner. The image obtained was retouched in its brightness, contrast, gamma, saturation and other variables until the final result was achieved.

In Another day the digital image obtained from an analog 35mm color slide, deteriorated due to its poor preservation, was merged with another one obtained from an analog black and white negative, also deteriorated.


Strange - Extraño

 

Finally the last image of the series: Strange, which was a special edition, which was not offered for sale by me, but was given as a gift to some people in particular (including some of my first collectors) was made in a very similar way to the previous one, Another day.


 

In my opinion, the richness of these images is largely due to the particular and suggestive modifications produced on the photographic film by the conditions in which they were stored for years. I believe that this condition gives them a particularity that makes them unique and invites us to think about time, its passage, its voracity and the signs it leaves behind.

These findings and concepts were the ones that marked the path for the following series: Summering from the past, which I will deal with in the next text of this blog.

La segunda serie de NFTs que acuñé en HEN fue: Strage landescapes – Paisajes extraños

Para esta serie continué trabajando, como lo venía haciendo con las películas fotográficas halladas.

Para llegar a las obras finales obtenidas hice numerosas intentos y pruebas.

Digitalicé y manipulé un número importante de fotogramas, hasta poder obtener como resultados imágenes y composiciones que consideré interesantes.

La primera obra Strange landescape 1 - Paisaje extraño 1, quedó acuñada sin su título por error

Para la realización de esta imagen se partió de un fotograma color de 35mm bastante deteriorado que se digitalizó y fue manipulado en su contraste, saturación y otras variables mediante Gimp, el software de edición digital que he usado para todos mis NFTs.

A esa imagen de base se le agregó, mediante collage digital el molino, que fue recortado digitalmente de una imagen obtenida a partir de una película fotográfica en blanco y negro de un campo en el que estaba ese molino.

En Strage landescape 2 – Paisaje estraño 2 se recurrió a la captura mediante fotografía digital y posterior edición con Gimp de una vieja diapositiva analógica de 35 mm, muy alterada por las malas condiciones en la que quedó guardada. Esta diapositiva quedó expuesta durante mucho tiempo a la humedad y formó hongos que alteraron notablemente la emulsión fotográfica que registrara la imagen oportunamente. La imagen obtenida fue retocada en su brillo, contraste, gama, saturación y otras variables hasta lograr el resultado final.

En Another day se fusionó la imagen digital obtenida a partir de una diapositiva analógica color de 35mm, deteriorada por su mala conservación con otra obtenida de un negativo analógico en blanco y negro también deteriorado.




Finalmente la última imagen de la serie: Strange, que fue una edición especial, que no fue puesta a la venta por mí, sino que fue obsequiada a algunas personas en particular (entre ellas a algunos de mis primeros coleccionistas) fue realizada en forma muy similar a la anterior, Another day.


A mi criterio la riqueza de estas imágenes está dada en gran medida por las particulares y sugerentes modificaciones producidas sobre la película fotográfica por las condiciones en las estas estuvieron guardadas durante años. Creo que esa condición les otorga una particularidad que las hace únicas y que invita a pensar en el tiempo, en su paso, en su voracidad y en las señales que va dejando.
